A Stem Above is out and about in creating the most lush and gorgeous floral design pieces, but more importantly, just to express what we love to do! Designers Erin and Amy took this Friday morning to share stories, have some fun, and diffuse the ‘coffee-high’ while assembling the pieces for tomorrow’s wedding.
Covered in an earthy-contemporary inspired shipment of stems, our warehouse studio was just reeking of the fresh shipment of flowers. You can get a peek at what we do at ASA as the before/prep- process for Melissa’s wedding!
It is always a wonderful feeling when the bride is happy with your ideas right-off-the-bat. With a day as beautiful as it was, our flowers turned out just as simple as the process of planning such a special day. Not only a breeze for our bride, Melissa, as she got what exactly she wanted without the fuss, our team had a great deal of fun dressing up both the space and featured people. Melissa and her Mom agreed that the inspiration was to compliment the deep peacock blue dresses, but not focus too much on monochromatic tones. The palette of eggplants, plums, and celadons was chosen as a quick decision for Melissa after the first viewing of the table centerpieces back last fall. She wasn’t afraid of incorporating texture, seasonal floral, and (of course) our signature modern style. The floral selection included both local product including Michigan coxcomb, fern, textural pods, zinnias, basil, sedium, maiden hair, sword fern, and imported elements like protea berry, cymbidium orchids, lisianthus, hydrangea, and hanging amaranth.
Each table was uniquely designed with custom eggplant contour linens, loden shantung napkins, and plum marbella chargers from BBJ. The vintage etched collection glassware and fruitwood chiavari chairs from Tablescapes brought the look together. Melissa’s cake was simply accented with bits of white dendrobium orchids and trailing maiden hair fern. A truly full-circle, natural, chic look from start to finish.

A Stem Above’s team had a tremendously fun time putting this wedding together for Melissa! The best part about working with this wedding was that, as mentioned earlier, Melissa knew exactly what she wanted form the get-go, and making a dead-on match with her aspirations to what we had in mind made things seamlessly smooth.
